ACWL Music programs offer opportunities to experience and participate the performing arts. We foster and promote the development of local musical talent, creating performance opportunities for armature and professional musicians. We are proud to help influence and develop the next generation of musicians and audiences.
Winners of the ACWL White Lake Young Artist Solo Performance 2016
Some of the best high school and college age musicians from music schools across the state performed on Saturday, April 16, 2016 for the Arts Council of White Lake's Young Artist Solo Competition. Young adults performed live and $1000 in award money was given to the top three winners based on the ruling of professional judges. The audience also voted and an additional $125 was given to the audience favorite.
Taking first place was cellist Andrew Plaisier from Calvin College. Second place winner was Dylan Ward on alto saxophone from Michigan State University. Third place went to violinist Anna Nordmoe from Loy Norrix High School. The audience favorite was Morgan Mitteer, trumpet, from Whitehall High School.
Some of the universities represented during the preliminary round were Western Michigan University, GVSU, Michigan State University, Adrian College, Oakland University, Central Michigan University, Interlochen Arts Academy, and Bowling Green State University.
It is exciting to have young talented musicians from across the state come to the White Lake area to share their talents with the community. We have the privilege of encouraging them along their paths!
