Blue is all around us, from the sky to our lake. Be inspired by the color that brings us so much life in this year’s photography exhibit. Submit your favorite photograph that pays homage to the color blue. 

Pottery Confessions
July 4- 29, 2017

Opening Reception: Thursday, July 6, 2017 5pm-7pm

Art can provide us with beauty or even inspiration in our daily life, but what role does functional art play? How does our lemonade pitcher or key bowl reflect our own stories? What secrets do these objects keep? Pottery confessions will display original and hand crafted pottery from our community members’ collections accompanied by a story of that piece and how it has had a significant role in their lives.  

Tales & Fables
August 1-September 2, 2017

Opening Reception: Thursday, August 3, 2017 5pm-7pm

Transport yourself into worlds of magic, dragons, and adventure through the Arts Council of White Lake’s newest exhibit, Tales & Fables. The exhibit will display the work of Joyce Degen, Chip VanderWier, Forrest Hanson, Casey Bemis, Jay Luptak, Ron Fellin, Tyler Richardson, and Hana Girdvainis-Sawyer. Each artist created a piece inspired by a story of his or her choice.  You can experience their interpretation of famous tales such as Alice in Wonderland and Legend of the Sleeping Bear.

The exhibit will be on display from August 1 until September 2 and can be seen at the Nuveen Center, 106 E. Colby St. Whitehall, MI. Come celebrate the work of local artists at a public reception on Thursday, August 3 from 5 to 7pm. Refreshments will be provided by Fetch Brewing Co.

Emerging Artist: Mini Mukherjee
September 5-October 21, 2017

Opening Reception: Thursday, September 7, 2017 5pm-7pm

Mini Mukherjee is a metalwork artist and fire painter based out of Orange County, CA, and a native of Ann Arbor, MI. Her first solo show, Your Time is Now, will be showcased at the Arts Council of White Lake Gallery in Whitehall, Michigan from September 7 through October 21Your Time is Now is a series of metal paintings that explores concepts of creative flow and personal growth. Mini applies the techniques she learned during her training in creative fabrication to create hypnotic swirls and patterns on steel and aluminum sheets, while allowing bold painted colors to draw the viewer into the depth of the work.
